The men of Rho Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma
Fraternity, Inc. are continually striving, achieving and meeting the challenges
set fourth by our noble founders. An old African proverb states, "It takes
a whole village to raise a child". Rho Sigma Chapter's service and
commitment to our community is achieved through our community projects, which
place emphasis on the youth. Projects such as Adopt-A-School, SATAP (Sigma
Against Teen-Age Pregnancy),
Thanksgiving Basket, Christmas Toy Drive, Project START, College Scholarships,
and UNCF donations. While emphasis is placed on our youth, the elderly are also
included in our Paint-A-Thon, and Thanksgiving Basket projects. A special
Brotherhood committee was established to visit, call, and transport our elderly
Brothers to fraternity meetings and events.
There is an African Proverb that says, "Many hands lighten the
load". The men of Rho Sigma Chapter are in the forefront with our
supporting hands with its activities and programs that help young boys know that
their are caring and productive men willing to give of self and time so that
they may have the opportunity to grow into manhood and become productive fathers
and leaders of the future.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel for Rho Sigma Chapter and it is not a train coming our way. I see the lights where men are willing to take off their coats and ties, roll up their sleeves, and take an active role in making our community better. A light that is beginning to brighten the way for those brothers who are willing to follow. For in order to be a good leader, you must be a good follower first.
Rho Sigma Chapter is very fortunate to have within its ranks brothers who have
taken leadership positions at the regional and state levels. Brother Sidney
McCray, National Vice-President: Brother Ray Smith, State Director of Florida: Frazier Mungin,
immediate past State Director of Florida: Brother Benjamin Addison, immediate
past Southern Regional Director of Social Action: Brother Mario Ellis, Southern
District Director of the State of Florida. Our founding fathers envisioned men
with community worth and leadership abilities when they established this great
fraternity. In Rho Sigma Chapter the vision remains alive.
